Ignited By The Spirit
St. Augustine wrote about how the call to progress is holiness. The task depends on God and God's grace and our own will. Each of us must desire to do God's Will which is based on beauty, truth and perfection to live in communion. Often, the tendency is to get caught up in selfishness or things based on pride which brings brokenness. The best remedy is to partake in the Sacrament of Reconciliation and be renewed, healed and filled with new graces.
We are a people of hope, trusting that the future will be even better than today. St. Francis De Sales wrote: "Do not look forward in fear to the changes in life; rather, look to them with full hope that as they arise, God, whose very own you are, will lead you safely through all things; and when you cannot stand it, God will carry you in His arms. Do not fear what may happen tomorrow; the same understanding Father who cares for you today will take care of you then and every day. He will either shield you from suffering or will give you the unfailing strength to bear it.
God bless,
Fr. McCarthy.
