Let’s look at a case that occurred in Ferriere, France, in 1154. This miracle is documented in the book “De miraculis” by Pedro Cluniacense (book 2, chapter 2).

A landslide in a mine buried a miner. After eight days, he was pronounced dead. His wife began to have a Mass celebrated for his soul every week. Only once did she forget this pious practice. The following year, a group of miners managed to rescue him alive while conducting exploration work.

They asked him how he had survived for so long, and he answered, “A young man shining like the sun and of heavenly beauty, holding in his hand a lit torch left me a large bread and some water and encouraged me to eat and have hope. He would disappear and reappear every week. I remember that only once he seemed to forget me, leaving me in the dark and without food.”

Everyone realized it was his guardian angel that had been by his side and brought him the help his wife obtained for him by having weekly masses said for him. The only week in which his guardian angel did not come was the week his wife had forgotten to have the mass celebrated for him.

This weekend I share with you the Novena Prayer to St. Therese’ of Lisieux.

Heavenly Father, we are very grateful for all the graces You are showing down upon us in these years of Eucharistic Revival. We also thank You for Your gift of St. Therese’ of Lisieux through whom You remind the world of Your merciful love and the child-like trust we should have in you.

St. Therese’, remember your promise to do good on earth and obtain for us a deep love for Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist through which He nourishes us. Help us to trust God as you did and shower down roses upon those who now ask for your intercession.

Pick any parish next weekend to get your spiritual fill and grab a Tootsie Roll (donations appreciated) from a Knight.

The Father Harry E Dailey Council of Ida Grove and the Holy Rosary Council of Danbury and Mapleton will hold their Tootsie Roll drives to support persons with intellectual disabilities on September 22nd. Ninety percent of proceeds will support local clients, and 10% will be donated to Special Olympics of Iowa.

Sign-up sheets for Eucharistic Adoration are now posted in each church. Sign up for the time slots of your choice.

Rosary Congress 24 hour adoration will be held September 30th - October 5th.

This year we have St. Mary's in Mapleton and St. Mary's in Danbury taking a day of adoration in their churches.

There is plenty of room in your church for more than one to sign up for an hour of adoration. The more hours you fill with people, the more graces available to you!

The Healing Mass for the Rosary Congress this year will take place at St. Mary's in Danbury. Watch for more details on this.

St. Therese of Lisieux’ Community Life Committee invites you to join together for our first annual parish cluster picnic. The potluck picnic will be Sunday, September 22nd at the Danbury City Park shelter house. ALL are invited to eat, socialize, and play games!

Please bring a protein of your choice (the grill will be ready to go at 12:30), dishes for you, your drink of choice, and a dish to pass.

Nationally known speaker Michael O’Neill, known as the Miracle Hunter, is coming to St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Sacred Heart Church on Tuesday, October 1st at 6:30 p.m. Michael will be speaking on true stories of miracles that he has researched. He has a program on EWTN and also on Catholic Radio.

Because we are expecting a good crowd, we want you to have a seat! You will find a sign-up sheet at the back of each church in our parish. If you plan on attending, please sign your name to reserve a spot.

The Rosary Congress will be raffling off a 50" x 60" fleece blanket beginning the weekend of September 14th and 15th in all three churches.

The blanket will be on display, and the tickets will sell for $5.00 each. Raffle tickets will sell through October 5th, the day of the drawing.

You are invited to join the Pro-Life Chain on Sunday, October 6th from 2-3 pm at the Mapleton 4-way stop.

This is a time of prayer and a peaceful stand to show respect for all life. Bring your own sign if you like, or we will have signs available.

We have Chaplets of St Therese available at all three churches. These include a medal with beads and prayer instructions. The Chaplets are at the entries of all 3 churches.

Ladies and gentlemen...we are planning a fellowship gathering after Tuesday night’s speaker on October 1st and again following the Patriotic Rosary on Friday, October 4th. If you are so inclined, we are looking for donations of bars or goodies. A signup sheet is available on the Adoration schedule table in the gathering space. We can also use some helpers.

On Saturday, October 5th following Mass we are having a small brunch with a hot dish provided. If you would like to donate rolls or a coffee cake that would be most appreciated.

We will gather at 6:30 PM for a meal. The Council will supply the meat. Attendees are asked to bring a salad or a dessert to share.

Religious Education will begin on Wednesday, September 18th. It was backed up due to MVAOCOU Homecoming. All grades will gather at 6:45 to recite the Rosary and then have class until 8:00.

SAVE THE DATE! The St. Therese Parish Mapleton Ministries Annual Turkey Supper Fundraiser will be held on Sunday, October 20th.

All Mapleton parishioners are needed to either work or donate or both. Please mark your calendar so you can be available.

Deanery meetings begin again, so Father Ball will hold the Mass on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:30 a.m.

Sponsored by the Diocese of Sioux City and Danbury Catholic School, the fundraiser is focused on raising funds to support enhancement grants at the 15 Catholic Schools in the diocese. Our schools help build a solid foundation of faith for our young people. The raffle ends on November 22, 2024.
